Video: Honda’s 2nd Generation DCT Explained

By Cycle CanadaPosted on

Honda has produced a short video (below) that explains, in simple terms, how their second generation Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) works. The new DCT is said to be lighter and more compact than the original unit that was employed on the VFR1200 last year, and features a new “learning” function that selects a running mode based on the riding environment. Honda’s all-new Integra maxi-scooter (not coming to Canada) will be fitted with the new DTC, as will a pair of forthcoming motorcycles, expected to be a naked standard and an adventure touring model, built around the same newly developed 670 cc parallel-twin engine powering the Integra.

Regardless of whether we’ll be seeing any of Honda’s new DCT equipped middleweights in Canada, the video is worth a watch.
