Ducati Multistrada 1200 Cheaper to Service

By: Cycle Canada Published on 8 February 2010

If the worry of expensive servicing has you sitting on the fence about purchasing Ducati’s four-bikes-in-one Multistrada 1200, new information from the manufacturer about the machine’s service intervals might allay your fears somewhat. Thanks to a new valve seat material and improved combustion efficiency in its Testastretta 11° engine, the Multistrada 1200 can go 24,000 km (15,000 miles) between valve clearance inspections, twice as long as the previous air-cooled Multistrada and the Ducati 1198. Both required valve inspection every 12,000 km (7,500 miles).

The base model Multistrada 1200 retails for $17,495 in Canada, with an additional $1000 for ABS. Both “S” packages, sport or touring, go for $20,995.
