2014 Honda CX700T and CTX700N

Honda has pulled back the wraps on their new CTX700T and CTX700N motorcycles at the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago IL. Based on the NC700 platform, the new machines come either faired or, in the case of the “N” model, naked. CTX stands for Comfort Technology Experience, according to Honda and the bikes place a focus on rider comfort and ease of operation.

Listed as a 2014 model, both versions feature the fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 670cc parallel twin engine. The engine is tuned for torque rather than horsepower and, if the similarities to the NC700 line hold true, a relatively low redline.

Honda’s literature indicates that the Dual Clutch Transmission with handlebar-mounted paddle shift will be available in the US, but Honda’s Canadian website only lists a six-speed gearbox at this time. Anti-Lock Brakes come standard on both models.

Honda claims a low (719mm) seat height, which is lower that its NC700 stable mate, and a wet weight of 217kg. Coupled with a low centre of gravity, the CTX line is aimed at riders of all skill levels.

Colour choices are made easy – red for the CTX700T and black for the CTX700N. U.S. prices initially appear to be US$ 6999 for the N model without ABS and US$7799 for the faired model with ABS. Canadian prices and availability will be announced soon.
