A new era of mobility begins at Kawasaki: introducing the all-electric 2024 Ninja e-1 and Z e-1

Canadian Kawasaki goes electric! Only a few short years after the introduction of its very first electric motorcycle prototype at EICMA 2019, Kawasaki is proud to officially add its first two production electric street motorcycles to its lineup: the all-new 2024 Ninja e-1 and Z e-1.

ALL-NEW – 2024 Ninja e-1 and Z e-1
● Powered by a new 9kW brushless electric motor paired with 2 batteries
● Removable batteries weighing only 11.5 kg make charging at home or at work easy
● ROAD and ECO modes adjust top speed to driving conditions and environment
● E-boost function increases top speed for 15 seconds
● WALK mode with reverse makes it easy to walk and manoeuvre the bike at low speed
● Regenerative system helps replenish the batteries
● Beginner-friendly clutch-less operation

With their familiar silhouettes and commuter-friendly features, the new Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 have been designed and built to offer urbanites a new option for mobility.

With a range of up to 72 km, these two electric motorcycles are meant to offer riders the option to ride and commute emission-free.

The 9kW brushless electric motor is paired with two, 11.5kg parallel batteries located under the storage compartment, where the fuel tank would traditionally be located. Both batteries can be charged directly on the bike or removed for charging. Both bikes also feature a regenerative system that kicks in when the rider reduces throttle, and converts the bike’s deceleration into energy that is stored back into the batteries, contributing to a prolonged range.

Charging time per battery is approximately 3.7 hours for a 0-to-100% charge and of 1.6 hours for a 20 to 85% charge on a 110V household outlet. Charge status is easy to check, either on the motorcycle display when the batteries are inside the bike, or on the battery directly when it’s out, by pressing the button located at the top.

There are two power modes that adjust the top speed to help preserve the battery depending on the riding conditions and environment. The e-boost function increases acceleration and top speed for a duration of 15 seconds for better passing and take-off.

WALK mode with reverse function is included on both models to make manoeuvring in a tight spot such as a parking lot a breeze. When engaged, the WALK mode allows for a forward speed of up to 5 km/h, and in reverse, of 3 km/h.

Both models sport a 4.3-inch digital TFT colour display with smartphone connectivity.

Pricing for the 2024 Ninja e-1 starts at $9,499 and for the 2024 Z e-1, at $9,199.

We are also thrilled to announce our 2024 returning street models. All details regarding our 2024 lineup as well as the all-new 2024 Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 are available on Kawasaki.ca.

Let the good times roll!
