Faulty Conrods Reason for RSV4 Recall

By Cycle CanadaPosted on

A recall notice by America’s NHTSA, confirms that the RSV4’s connecting rods are to blame for Aprilia recalling 335 RSV4 Factory and RSV4 R motorcycles. Apparently the outsourced rods, were straightened using a method that compromised their strength and reliability, and were responsible for not only scrubbing an RSV4 R press track day, but also requiring almost all the RSV4’s sold to-date to be returned  for engine replacement via this recall.

The recall doesn’t apply to Canada though, as neither of the affected Aprilia bikes have been shipped here yet. “When we do start to ship the bikes to our Canadian dealers the problem will have been corrected and the bikes not part of the recall,” Melissa MacCaull of Piaggio Group Americas told us.
