WSBK: Biaggi Wins Season Finale

By Cycle CanadaPosted on

After clinching the World Superbike title last weekend at Imola, Max Biaggi put the icing on the cake  at Magny-Cours today by assuring Aprilia the manufacturers’ championship with a fourth place finish in race 1 and then claiming his tenth win of the year in the season finale. Pole-sitter Cal Crutchlow of the Yamaha Sterigarda team cruised to victory in the day’s first race ahead of Alstare Suzuki’s Leon Haslam (now officially signed with the BMW team alongside Troy Corser for next season), while Spaniard Carlos Checa took the final podium spot for the Althea Ducati team.

Crutchlow attempted a repeat performance in race two, but Biaggi edged him out by 0.087 seconds for top spot in the last race of 2010. Michel Fabrizio came third, giving the now defunct factory Ducati team its final podium finish in an illustrious 22-year World Superbike run.
