Ten-time Canadian Superbike champ Jordan Szoke (BMW Motorrad / Mopar Express Lane) headed south of the border last weekend to compete in the MotoAmerica season finale held at New Jersey Motorsport Park (NJMP). The 36-year-old rider returns bruised, his S1000RR broken.
Szoke was plagued by technical problems and finished ninth in the Superstock class (15th overall) during the round’s first feature. Öhlins suspension ace Jon Cornwell remedied a fork problem prior to the second race, but a first-corner collision (Elena Myers rode into Szoke’s rear) ended Szoke’s day early.
“I got hit so hard from behind,” Szoke said. “I was in the air and there was no bike under me. Now I’m bruised up, hurt my elbow.
“This was one of my worst AMA Nationals ever, my first crash on the 2015, in fact it was my first crash since I fell in a qualifying session in Canada back in 2012.”
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Cameron Beaubier locked up the MotoAmerica Superbike crown on the strength of a second and third at NJMP.
