Mugen unveils TT Zero contender

By: Cycle Canada Published on 8 April 2014

Last week Team Mugen released photos and specs of its contender in this year’s TT Zero Challenge electric motorcycle class, which will compete at the Isle of Man TT races in June. Living legend John McGuinness will pilot one bike, while TT veteran Bruce Anstey will ride the team’s second machine.

Team Mugen first competed in the TT Zero Challenge in 2012, securing two consecutive second-place finishes. They hope that improvements to this year’s “Shinden San” race bike will yield a first-place result.

This year’s bike features a new oil-cooled three-phase brushless motor, which the team says is smaller, lighter, and more powerful. The bike has new suspension and improved aerodynamics, and battery capacity is also increased from 2013. Click here for more detailed specifications.
