BMW Motorrad announces the new F800 GS Adventure. The new bike is based on the existing FS800 GS and is designed to appeal to the globe-trotting crowd.

The F800 GS Adventure will retain the 85 hp twin of the GS, but gets a host of upgrades like engine guards and more robust bodywork. The Adventure comes fitted with Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS). The ASC is switchable to “Enduro” mode that turns down the wick and allows less intervention when riding on loose terrain.

Wider footpegs, a larger windscreen and improved seat are added to the Adventure. Fuel capacity grows to 24 litres, up from 16 litres on the GS version.

The first 1,000 units will be a special “Launch Edition”, finished in a matte paint finish. These initial specials will also feature heated grips, onboard computer, centre stand and a lockable aluminum case set.

A release date is forthcoming along with a Canadian MSRP.
