Recall: 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R

By: Cycle Canada Published on 28 July 2011

Transport Canada has issued a recall notice for the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Apparently the new Japanese superbike has a wiring harness chafing problem. Full details below.

Transport Canada Recall # 2011269

Manufacturer Recall # MC11-08

On certain motorcycles, the main wiring harness can contact a bolt and a rivet located in the tail section of the vehicle. The resultant chafe damage could, over time, create an electrical short circuit, which may cause the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace, and reposition the main wiring harness.
