Yamaha Prices 2012 Super Ténéré Competitively

By: Cycle Canada Published on 19 December 2010

Yamaha Canada has announced pricing on the 2012 Super Ténéré. The 1198 cc adventure tourer will be available here in limited quantities starting June 2011 for $16,499—making it $1,142 cheaper than the base model of its top rival the BMW R1200GS. Most notable is the fact that the Super Ténéré’s price includes traction control, antilock brakes, dual-mode ride-by-wire throttle mapping, tubeless spoked wheels and hand guards. The GS includes heated grips and an adjustable windshield (lacking on the Yamaha) as standard, but adding ABS, traction control and spoked wheels raises the BMW’s price considerably to $23,464. To top it off, if you put $500 down payment on a 2012 Super Ténéré by April 30, Yamaha will throw in a 2-year extended warranty, $50 oil and filter maintenance package, priority delivery and a $250 rebate if you add $1500 worth of accessories (roughly the cost for aluminum panniers and a skidplate) to your new purchase.

The Super-10 made a great first impression when we rode it briefly in the fall (we hope to do an in depth adventure tourer comparison next season) and now, seeing how competitively it’s being priced, we’re even more impressed.
