Recall: Zero S and DS

By: Cycle Canada Published on 26 July 2011

Zero, the first electric motorcycle to be distributed in Canada, has issued a recall for its 2009 DS and 2009-2010 S models. The bikes’ front brake caliper has a problem withstanding high braking loads and needs to be replaced. Full details from Transport Canada below.

Transport Canada Recall # 2011258

On certain motorcycles, the front brake caliper bracket may experience permanent deformation when subjected to high braking loads. This could allow misalignment of the front brake pads with respect to the front brake rotor, which could cause a reduction in front braking efficiency, increased stopping distances, and possibly result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the front brake caliper bracket with an updated version. The front brake pads will also be replaced and, if the front brake fluid shows signs of overheating, it will be replaced and the system flushed.
