Haga Increases WSBK Lead

Noriyuki Haga will take a ten point lead over Ben Spies into the final round of the World Superbike Championship after cruising to his eighth win of the season at Magny-Cours, France.

The Ducati rider fell two points behind Spies after the opening race, when the American edged him out by only 0.181 seconds. Haga struck back in race two, taking the lead in lap 1 and never looking back as Spies endured a troublesome race, quickly falling away from the lead fight to eventually cross the line in fourth position, more than 18 seconds behind Haga.

The Japanese rider’s victory this weekend also means that Ducati has locked the 2009 manufacturer’s title one round early.
