Price wins Dakar Rally

Toby Price has finished atop the motorcycle class in the Dakar – the first time an Australian has won in any category of the grueling off-road rally, which this year ran through Argentina and Bolivia. The 28-year-old secured KTM’s 15th win in a row, finishing 39:41 ahead of Slovakian teammate Stefan Svitko. Chile’s Pablo Quintanilla (Husqvarna) finished third, 48:48 back.

“Being the first Australian to win the Dakar is just insane,” Price said. “I never would’ve thought I could win this race in my second participation. Finishing the rally is already a triumph. Winning it is amazing! I hope this is just the start, to win again. It won’t be easy, so I’ve got to savour this victory.”
