Long rumoured to be in the works, BMW has just taken the wraps off its new G310R.
At its heart is a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, four-valve, DOHC, 313 cc single-cylinder engine. The mill is said to produce 34 hp at 9,500 rpm, its max torque figure a claimed 20.6 lb-ft at 7,500 rpm. Unladen weight is said to be 158.5 kg. Chassis is tubular steel and the swingarm is cast aluminum. The fork is a 41 mm inverted unit and there’s a single shock at the rear. ABS comes standard. As this is a BMW, expect the options list to be long.
Though it’s by far the smallest capacity motorcycle in BMW’s lineup, even a cursory consideration reveals styling similarities with BMW’s big boy F800R, R1200R and S1000R roadsters – the headlight and tank shapes, rad shrouds and front fender, to name a few.
The bike has been completely designed in Germany, but this small-displacement roadster will be built in Bangalore, India, by TVS, BMW’s Indian partner. As yet, there’s been no confirmation of Canadian pricing and availability.
