Japanese rider Takumi Takahashi will make his MotoGP debut with a wildcard entry for Honda at Motegi later this season.

“I have been involved in a few pre-season MotoGP tests at Twin Ring Motegi before,” Takahashi said, “and have seen how the world’s best competitors ride. I’m enthralled to be offered this opportunity to compete with the world’s best riders. I’ll be giving it my best to live up to everyone’s expectations.”

Takahashi, a three-time winner of the Suzuka 8 Hours and current competitor in the All Japan Road Race Championship, will ride a Honda RC213V for Team HRC in his first premiere class race.
