Rossi signs two-year extension

Valentino Rossi has signed a two-year extension with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. The deal will keep the nine-time world champion racing with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team until the end of the 2016 season.

There was some speculation at the beginning of this season about whether it would be the last for the MotoGP veteran. However, thus far in 2014 Rossi has shown he can still be competitive, with four second-place finishes and five podiums through eight races – results that currently see him tied for second in the overall championship standings.

“I am very happy to announce that I have signed a new contract with Yamaha to continue together in MotoGP for the next two years,” Rossi said. “It’s great because this was my target; I wanted to continue, I am feeling good and I’m motivated to keep giving my best. I will try to keep giving the maximum to arrive in front and make good races.”
