In an effort to assist with the earthquake disaster, Harley-Davidson has announced it is donating 28 new Buell and Harley-Davidson motorcycles to Haiti.
The bikes are being shipped to an H-D facility in the Dominican Republic from where they will be delivered to the neighbouring Haitian government.
“Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this devastating disaster in Haiti,” said Rod Copes, Sr. Vice President of International Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Harley-Davidson. “As the relief and stabilization efforts continue, motorcycles can often offer a higher degree of maneuverability and access than other types of vehicles.”
Though we don’t want mock or criticise relief efforts, this is a bit of head scratcher for us. “High degree of manoeuvrability”? Is Copes not aware of what the road conditions are like in the western hemisphere’s poorest country? Can he really imagine a Harley Rocker-C or Buell 1125R being much use out there?
