The Moto Foto auctions biker pix for association

A Canadian photographer who specializes in shooting motorcycles and their riders raised $12,420 for Diabetes Canada at an October event in Toronto

Dan Lim, whose “The Moto Foto” is concerned with photographs of motorcyclists in action, held a one-night event, “Fearless: Engrained,” at District 28 in downtown Toronto. It was an art exhibit and silent auction, with the addition of a motorcycle simulator, Jumpstart, installed by Pfafd Harley-Davidson. All the money from the silent auction was given to Diabetes Canada.

Sponsors provided raffle items and clothing for the auction as well. Pfaff Harley-Davidson and Adrenaline Tattoo put on a photo booth contest that featured the H-D FXDR 114.

Lim’s photos of motorcycle riders are stylized representations of men and women on bikes, usually Harley-Davidsons.

This was the third event for Diabetes Canada. With the two previous events, Lim has contributed a total of $35,000 to the organization. Lim’s son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a young age, so the organization was a natural choice for the photographer’s charitable efforts.

“The Fearless initiative, like the images being presented, is a celebration of the unity and positivity of the motorcycle community,” Lim said. “The solidarity and support shown for this cause that is near and dear to our hearts is beyond words.”

Henry’s, a Toronto photo store, was also a sponsor of the night’s event.
