Ireneusz Sikora, Thomas Polmiksovsky and Milos Czechihak, of the BMW Sikora Bily Prorace team, rode a BMW S1000RR to fourth place in the superstock class at the 73rd Bol d’Or in Magny-Cours, France, this past weekend.

According to BMW, the race bike did not differ significantly from what Canadians will get for $16,800 when the machine hits our shores in early 2010—the only modifications a larger, 24 litre gas tank and an Akrapovic racing exhaust. BMW claimed that the bike’s ABS and dynamic traction control system—a $1500 option on the stock machine—was instrumental in the team’s achievement.

Cycle Canada has secured a spot at the upcoming Portuguese press launch of the S1000 RR so stay tuned for more details.
