Spy photos have emerged of a prototype of the first road-going motorcycle made by dirt-bike manufacturer Husqvarna. The BMW subsidiary is building an all-new  machine around an upgraded version of the same parallel twin motor used in the parent company's F800 series motorcycles. Looking to create a sportier engine for what looks to be a supermoto-styled bike, Husqvarna has upped the Rotax motor's displacement to 900 cc and say they've modified its internal components for improved torque and power distribution. The mill's filter box and outlets have also been redesigned for higher performance and decreased weight.

The 2012 Husqvarna 900 will be launched as a production model in November at EICMA in Milan and according to Husqvarna, there will be two versions, one being a higher spec "factory" model.
